Dream Wheels: Vespa

I have a car and I love it (most days) despite that there are several other modes of transport I would like to explore. Even since my barbies got their motor scooter I have been pining for one, a Vespa of my own. This time of year I am reminded of it when the luckiest people pull their Vespa’s out of storage and look cool as hell driving around town. Last week my darling friend Claire made the plunge and bought a scooter of her own off of craigslist, it’s adorable and makes me crazy jealous. There are lots of other vehicles that I know would be fun and practical but at the end of the day, for myself I want a Vespa. It does not help that these ladies also look classy as all get up with their Vespas.

Things I love: The Coffee Edition

What get’s you up and going in the mornings? For me is it coffee, rich dark hot coffee. I’m crazy about it. This fact was confirmed for me this week-end while reviewing my pinterest boards. There are a lot, a laughable amount of pins of just images on coffee. I don’t even need to taste it to appreciate it. Cray for Coffee.

Gift Guide: Boyfriend

What to get a boyfriend who loves Spider man, following world events, history, candy and gives the best back rubs every night and never complains about being the person who takes out garbage- for their birthday.

A stripey tie with surprising colours. A frame from his glory days made of a recycles court. A classic watch for every day. A set of vintage inspired spidey-posters. A home mat that would make him smile every day. A minimal dopp kit for the locker room. Hilarious teacher’s aid, cards that say ‘STOP TALKING’ to pass out in class. A classy sporty new phone case in his favourite timeless colours. And cake, the man wants cake.

Surprise Cakes

I can bake a mean chocolate cake. And probably a vanialla one too if I tried. That said, I am not very adventurous with my cake baking. These cakes are so fun, imagine baking a cake for someone and on the first cut they see the extra love and message and flavours you added. That pinata cake is nuts!

I Dream of Shorts

Hot, hot, heat means shorts, shorts, shorts. Living somewhere that has a short summer period purchasing shorts isn’t something that I do often ( I have some shorts that are seven years old- ridic). I need to update and these styles are cute and functional. Shape, coverage and structure are key and those bottom floral ones? Take me to the beach, or more likely around my parents house. Easy on, easy off, easy to the pool.

Recipe Swap: Sauteed Carrots

So I saw this article on The Kitchn and thought, hmmm putting carrot ribbons into your pasta to accompany your linguine. I thought . . .why not just use the carrots, if you can do it with spaghetti squash, and use zucchini in your lasagna well then why not just use carrot ribbons as linguine. So I followed the recipe vaguely but I had some pasta sauce so I used that rather than the basil, lemon and parm combo. It was great I highly suggest it, fast, healthy and filling. My next try will be with the light lemony combo. Here is what it looked like for me. 

In Review: Met Gala

I am not well versed in high-fashion but I have discovered two things today that I want to share. Haute Couture is so apart from the everyday style that it is easy to make fun and not accredit all the talent and work that goes into couture designs. That said- what is life without a little laughter? No one should take themselves too seriously.

Poor Kim is being publicly ridiculed from every side but girl: Small tight florals do not flatter everyone.

Celebration: Pink & Gold

I am not the girliest gal out there but there is something about a party that for me says bring on the glitz. It is over the top but I am a big fan of the colours pink and gold in decorating. The trick to not making it too precious is adding shades, throw in orange throw in metallic and matte gold and you can’t go wrong. Here is a pretty hefty mood board for a pink & gold soiree.
